Sheena to get guidance and yes, this was the right car.

As we now had two cars I set about seUing my sports car. A very strange thing kept happening: I could not sell it. The harder I tried the less happened. For one reason or another the sale always fell through. Then I was posted to the R.A.F. Staff College at Bracknell. We went there having two cars but no money. We couldn't even go out for a cup of tea. I thought that at least I would be near London and have a much better chance of selling the car. But again it was the same story. I could not sell that car. The bills for the flat started coming in, then came the summonses, and finally threatening letters about me to the Commandant of the Staff College. I put all my energies into selling the car but with no avail.

It dawned on me that there must be some reason for this, so I asked my wife to get a message. I was told that indeed there was a reason: that I had to learn a lesson that was of vital importance to my future, to learn to be dependent on God and God alone to meet my needs. First I was to make a list of all the bills and total them up. I did that. It came to £375. Then I was to ask God the Father for that amount of money, no more, no less, and to give thanks that it was already on its way. According to my faith and positive thought there it would be.

My motto was to be, "In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength." As with all things it is one thing to know it in theory and it is quite another thing to put it into practice. When all these bills came through the letter box every day I still had butterflies in my stomach, and it was about a fortnight before I could say, "All right, I have handed this over. It is no longer my problem." When I could do that in perfect confidence, then and only then was the car sold for £375, the exact amount of money needed.

Patience, Persistence and Perseverance.

Eileen: When we first came to Findhorn, Peter had no job and we got £8 a week unemployment benefit. That was all we had to live on. Before we left our last employment at the Trossachs Hotel, we had had a number of repairs done on the car and the garage bill came to £76. That is quite a lot of money when you are unemployed!

1 am a person who cannot bear to have bills hanging over my head; but how were we to pay this garage bill? I had a small amount of money tied up in a marriage settlement which I very seldom thought about. The income from it was £21 per annum, and this kept the car taxed and insured during these almost complete stranger.
